Parking
A local resident attended a free 30 minute consultation following an ongoing disagreement in regard to the parking of her disability scooter in her designated parking space, causing her considerable disruption. We intervened and, acting in her best interest, secured permission for the scooter to be parked in her space despite it not requiring tax and insurance in accordance with regulation.

SOCIAL IMPACT
Positive Social Impact
Personal- This member of the community can now rid herself of the underlying stress and anxiety this was causing and feel able to use her disability scooter to live her daily life.
Financial– Without this being a costly legal battle and long term stress she can continue with her life in a positive and constructive way.
Community- She is now able to continue purchasing from local shops and attending local events. Equality is key to fairness, justice and rights for the individual as well as the wider community.
Without BH Support
This resident would have either not been able to use her parking space and have reasonable access to use her mobility scooter, or would have paid substantial costs to achieve the goal. Being unable to access many local resources she would have become more isolated and reliant on others. This separation and dependence can be unhealthy and has been linked to feelings of envy, inadequacy and less satisfaction with life. Studies have even suggested that it can lead to ADHD symptoms, depression, anxiety and sleep deprivation.
